Little Leprechauns

Like every year, my kiddos received a note and two "gold coins" (chocolate ones) from their "friendly neighborhood leprechaun" this morning. I think they love St. Patrick's Day as much as I do!

Party Party Party

I'm a week overdue in writing this, but the pace of life just seems to be bonkers these days. Fun stuff - happy stuff - just LOTS AND LOTS OF STUFF. Anyway, the J-bird's seventh birthday was a lot of fun. He was very excited that it was his GOLDEN birthday - turning seven on the seventh, so we gave him seven gifts to mark the occasion. He said it was the best day of his life.

One of his favorite gifts was this much coveted "Flipeez" hat he's been asking and asking for. You might say he was happy with it.

He went to school that day, and then we went out to supper with the Beckers.

He didn't want cake, so he had a milkshake, instead.

The next day, we had a scavenger hunt party downtown. It was so fun - the invitation was a clue about where to meet, and the hunt started from there. Each clue led to a local business or downtown landmark. The kids had to figure it out, and then we'd go there and take a funny photo.

The kids took turns reading the clues and were so sweet with one another. The last clue led to Pizza Schmizza, our lunch destination.

And that chaos pretty much looked like this:

The J-bird requested donuts, instead of cake, so that's what we had after pizza, and I brought quarters for all the kids, so they could play the arcade game, ride the circus horse, and get candy and bouncy balls out of the machines to fill up the treat bags I brought. It was mass hysteria of the best kind. The J-bird's friends are so sweet, and he had a great time. He said THAT was the best day of his life.

I guess there are a lot of those when you're seven.
